The effects on children can be emotional, such as isolation, anger, or powerlessness. The effects can be also mental, for example, depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, academic issues, or suicidal thoughts. Children also can skip school, use drugs, or drink alcohol, which belong between behavioral effects. More than 30 years has been explored the connection and influence between violence in TV and violent people. For example, the association between watching TV and suicidal behavior was seen in India. Also, children, who watch violent movies, advertisements, or series in TV have worse academic results. This research done by several psychologists show the positive as well as negative influences on children caused by media. The research showed, that children in a really young age cannot learn from screens. Whereas, the teenagers can learn from their screens a lot. But the research also shown, that children can learn the most from face-to-face, if they communicate and interact with another person. On the other hand, they do not deny that children cannot learn anything through the media, on the contrary, if they learn to use the media properly, they can learn a lot. (Pappas, 2020)

    When most people think of bullying they think of bullying that takes place in person, usually at schools. Cyberbullying is less talked about but is extremely important especially in today's time because many young people are on the internet. In a way I think cyberbullying can be worse because it is not just people in your school but people from all over that are saying things about you. I think these articles are very informative and give great information about what exactly cyberbullying is, how violence in the media influences children, and positive and negative effects of the media on children. I think it is important to focus on the effects on children because they are in a stage in their life where they are easily influenced; what they learn as children will transfer to what they learn and believe as adults.

      you are absolutely right Cyberbullying is a very serious matter and it cannot be underestimated. And exactly as you mentioned: "it is important to focus on the effects on children because they are in a stage in their life where they are easily influenced." That was one of the main reasons, why choose to write my blog about this topic. I am glad, that you liked the sources, which I provided.

CURRENT EVENTS I

  A study, done by Common Sense Media in March 2022, showed that children used media in 2021 more than ever. The usage of media is 17% higher in last two years, which is more than in the four past years together. Children between the age 8 – 12 are spending 5 hours and 33 minutes on media now, whereas before it was 4 hours and 44 minutes. And the children or rather teenagers in the age 13 – 18 spend 8 hours and 22 minutes with media, especially on their mobile phones. Of course, that it was highly influenced by the pandemic of Covid-19, but with no doubt it is terrifying.
